People believe in me…

Posted: October 9, 2012 in growing stronger, self help

So these last few weeks have been rather hectic. I’ve started placement, won an award and had so much other things going on at the same time.

So where to start? Well I will start with placement, I have been on placement now for a couple of weeks and really getting into it. I love what I am doing and it’s great to help people in a different way to what I do at work. As I have started to build relationships with the people there it just keeps getting better. It’s also one closer to achieving my dream of being a social worker.

Another great piece of news is that I was nominated for northsounds young person of the year. I received the news that I had been short listed, this meant that I had been put in the top four. I was over the moon it’s a massive thing for people to final see the real me and praise me for all I do. Being in the top four was amazing but on the day of the awards we were invited along to see if I had won. I am pleased to say I did and this to me is one of the greatest achievements so far.

For people to recognise all the hard work I have put in these last few years is the most amazing feeling. It’s great for people to see that bad experiences can be turned into good ones. At the event there were people who came over to speak to me who had been asking questions to the people at Northsound and were impressed with what they had heard. It’s great to hear people say these things and even more great to have people who are willing to support me to achieve things I want to.

One goal I have is to set up a charity that educates people about self harm and allows more support to be there for suffers as in Aberdeen there is only one project that currently supports people who self harm and this is something I want to change. I now have contacts to be able to do this a lot quicker that I would have been able to do on my own.

The more things that happen in my life the more I believe that everything happens for a reason. All the bad things that happened to me happened so that I could turn my life around and help other people who are going through the things I did.

Thank you to everyone who ever believed in me, I now believe in myself too. Let the new exciting things begin. I will keep you posted of all developments.

If you believed in me when I didn’t, thank you for giving me the opportunity to blossom and become who I am today. I am very grateful.

Do you believe in yourself? If not, you need to start believe. Anything is possible when you believe in yourself.

Bye for now. 🙂
